Effects of Texas Revolution 8th

So now what? What are the effects of this revolution? think about America, Mexico, and the world. And of course, Texas. General Jose Manuel de Mier y Teran died with these last words: " Immortality! God! The Soul! What does all this mean? Well, then, I believe in it all, but why does man not have the right to put aside his misery and his pains? Why should he be eternally chained to an existence which is unpleasant to him? And this spirit which inspires, which fills my mind with ideas-where will it go? Let us see, now; the spirit is uncomfortable, it commands me to set it free, and it is necessary to obey. Here is the end of human glory and the termination of ambition.
¿En quĂ© parará Texas? En lo que Dios quiera. ["What is to become of Texas? Whatever God wills"]

He committed suicide with this last thought. Due: March 28th

  1. There were many effects of the Texas Revolution, most were for the worst, bringing power to the unruly Texians. Mexico was weakened, and soon began to deteriorate, my motherland, gone to ruin. America became a more independent colony, becoming ever stronger than my beloved Mexico, a shadow looming over the rest of the world. America was becoming a threat to the rest of the world, with chances of any other colony taking America becoming slimmer with every passing week. Maybe one day our native lands will risefrom the ashes...

Well, we have achieved our one and only goal-- to be free from Mexico and from Santa Anna's rule. So, now we shall rejoice. This was an extremely tough war, and we endured all the hardships, and here we are! But not too soon. We lost a lot of money in this war, and somehow, we have to get all of that money back. We are starting from scratch, which means we have the chance to do whatever we want. And that is good. We will have a democracy, where everyone will have a say in the law (unlike SANTA ANNA's rule)
America probably will see us as prime territory to claim now. I believe that Texas will be stronger once it has joined the United States. It is a democracy, perfect for this new country.
I think Mexico doesn't see us that well. But I'm not too mad at the people--just mad at Santa Anna. We just stole their land. What other feelings should we expect?
And currently, the world sees a new country in this world- Texas. They probably just view us as some new country-- except for the United States and Mexico

(and just as a side note, NOT RELATED TO THE BLOG POST, there's a book that perfectly answers all the questions in the quote-- Looking for Alaska by John Green. The last few pages. But read the entire book...)

The effects of the Texas Revolution helped America increase its potential growth to a staggering rate. This in turn surprised the world including nearby and overseas countries planning on reconquering America. America gained their land from Mexico through this event: Baja California/Texas-> (Texas Revolution-> U.S.-Mexican War)-> America. Even at the end of the battles of the Texas Revolution, the war continued evolving into a U.S.-Mexican war over boundaries of Texas and other Mexican lands. This was because the Mexicans continued to believe Texas was still a province of Mexico, though Texas was its own country that was being annexed into America as a state. The young Texas was at a loss being a new country with no laws set and internal problems which bigger countries with longer experience have dealt with it. This was the time to consolidate with America as it was a fair country and laws were inscribed on paper already. As it is, most Texans were Anglo- immigrants and it was a return into their land of origin. The Mexicans of Mexico found this as a threat, as I mentioned before, and fought with America finding them as a threat. I find the Texas Revolution as a minor cause of the bloody civil war. Since Texas was a slave state, it became part of the Confederacy. This brought the British back into the split America. Which was bringing a whole new other country in to the picture. When General Jose Manuel de Mier y Teran died and said his final words, it made me think about our spirit which filled our minds with the thought of freedom. This is for what our existence came out of oblivion, to change Texas, Mexico, and possibly the world. It was God's will for us brave men to fight our way to Texas' freedom and we made Texas to a current, glorious state.

Ah the beautiful Texas... The once beautiful land now tainted with blood... I'm sure the fellow Texans are now free; they gained what they wanted... I hope no more bloodshed will happen after this Treaty of Verlasco. We need to maintain the peace. Sir Santa Anna has PROMISED us to give the freedom that you have wanted for a long time my friends. Be grateful, and don’t get too greedy. This oh beautiful America has grown out of the green and become more powerful than ever, I could not be more proud of them than they are. The expanding of the land gained us more desire to get more… I am sorry to say that the beautiful golden Mexico is now deteriorated in a state that I can no longer help. How I regret for what I have done... I believe that if we fight, WE FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS, and nothing else. I am a wary man but my wishes are always unchanged. For us to be independent and free.

  5. " The effects of this vile skirmish cannot be expressed in words! My country is now split in half and I lay down my sword that Tejas will join the Americanos! Americans, America, why can't they be pleased with what they already have? Why have the Texans demanded of me what they would not even demand of America? In the 'great and glorious' America one does not simply walk up to their leader and demand a piece of land be made seperately independent do they? Besides, what matters to them is Texas is an independent state or grouped with Coahuila? Hurt pride? HA! And now, with their childish longings, they have cut down Mexico and left us in shame as they left no regard to morals and attacked us during a time of rest in which we did not even attack them during their time of rest! No respect, I tell you...but then, what can you expect from a group of thieves and drunkards...America has just been trying to take Tejas all along...and they will, I swear. Tejas itself is now stained in dishonor and bathed in the blood of my men, who with me, were only trying to keep what was rightfully ours. What will become of Mexico? It is a disaster, this stupid rebellion. And Tejas, in the hands of these...rough, uneducated, prideful people? Let Sam Houston rejoice, but he has won a fool's war. Mexico's gem is lost, but she will make her revenge known!"
